Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy or counselling can be an effective method for addressing psychological or emotional distress. Choosing to enter a process of therapy can be difficult or anxiety-provoking and I have a deep respect, empathy and compassion for individuals who take this step.

I offer both short- and longer-term psychotherapy for:

  • Individuals over 18 years of age

As a counselling psychologist I am interested in assisting people to deal with day to day life challenges. This may involve adjusting to developmental processes (e.g. life stage transitions) or circumstantial events (e.g. relationship breakdown). During this process, people have the opportunity to discover many aspects of themselves, such as thoughts, feelings and coping strategies. Usually, it facilitates self-awareness and the development of self-regulation, which helps people to negotiate these challenges with adaptive coping skills.

Some life challenges that I have an interest in include:

  • Low mood | Depression

  • Anxiety | Stress

  • Relationship dynamics

  • Life stage changes

  • Self-identity

  • Bereavement | Grief

  • Volatile mood regulation (e.g. anger management)
